A little Andy update

Yesterday we took Andy to MGH for an appointment with his pediatric cardiologist. He was supposed to go back at a year, but since we are moving, we were able to get the appointment moved up. Andy screamed the entire time, so much so I gave up trying to understand what the nurses were saying to me because Andy would not pause long enough for me to understand anything. They had a hard time doing his blood pressure, commented on his cold feet so I felt like a bad mother, and I think they may have done another test. I wasn't sure, all I know is I was supposed to hold him as still as possible. They wanted to measure him, but he flailed around so much that they gave up and believed what I told them from his last appointment two weeks ago. And when they weighed him he just moved around so much in his terror that the scale never got an official number.

Eventually we got to the actual doctor's office. She came in very very pregnant, was able to calm Andy right down, and after listening to his heart decided he's totally fine. His murmur is gone, and she is almost positive it won't come back. And if it does, we are to not bring him in again until he's 4 years old. But it won't come back, so don't even worry about that she said.

So I'm happy. I hadn't really worried about this in a while, but to hear that Andy will be ok was such an amazing relief nonetheless.

Andy's been having an exciting week. He's also finally started rocking on all fours, which is a precursor to crawling. And when I stood him up in his pack n play today he was able to hold himself upright for about three minutes before I picked him up. I'm not sure if he even knew he was standing, but he started crying, so I think he didn't know how to stop. He's also talking up a storm now, giving me lots of spitty noises on top of a bunch of consonants. Unfortunately he now doesn't like strangers though. He will scream at everyone and anyone besides the two of us. I'm now terrified of the move down south. How will we eat at Waffle House if he's screaming the entire time? And how will we drive over 800 miles with him wailing in the back? Thank god for Dave driving our cats down (and isn't that totally awesome of him to do?), if they were in the car too I would probably jump out.
